Achill Island, Ireland's largest island, is situated off the west coast of County Mayo. It measures 20kms by 18kms, and is connected to the mainland by a bridge. Achill is a haven for outdoor activities catering for all interests, e.g. 9-hole Golf course, Deep Sea fishing, Lake and Shore Angling, Scuba diving, Surfing, Windsurfing, Canoeing, Hill and Mountain walking, Rock Climbing and Pitch & Putt. Expert tuition in water sports is available at Keel Lake during the summer months. There is a PADI dive centre on the island at Purteen Harbour near Keel.
